About Us
We are growing quickly, and we need someone rare. Someone who can calculate an ESOP vesting schedule before lunch, calm a nervous new manager after lunch, and still have energy left to plan the holiday party. We call this person the HR Unicorn. We are not entirely sure they exist, but we are optimistic.
About the Role
On any given day, you might review a multi state leave request, update compensation bands, coach a manager through a performance improvement plan, and brainstorm a recognition program, all before your second cup of coffee (or café con leche, if you have visited Valencia).
What You Will Do
Employee Relations & Culture
- Serve as a trusted advisor to employees and managers on workplace concerns, conflict resolution, and performance management.
- Conduct thorough, fair, and well documented workplace investigations.
- Recommend appropriate outcomes and follow up on corrective actions.
- Maintain confidential case files in accordance with retention policy.
- Partner with leadership on engagement surveys, exit interview analysis, and retention initiatives.
- Champion career development conversations and regular manager check ins.
Benefits & Total Rewards
- Administer health, dental, vision, life, disability, and voluntary benefit programs.
- Lead annual open enrollment, including communications, vendor coordination, and system configuration.
- Support 401(k) and ESOP plan administration, including:
- Annual audits and nondiscrimination testing
- Eligibility tracking and participant education
- Distribution processing
- Maintain and evolve the compensation framework, salary bands, and career ladders.
Compliance & Policy
- Monitor federal, state, and local employment law changes across approximately 20 states.
- Maintain the employee handbook so policies stay current, consistent, and clearly written.
- Coordinate required filings, including EEO 1, ACA, and state specific reporting.
- Support international employment compliance with local advisors in Spain and other countries.
HR Operations & Technology
- Act as a power user and internal champion for our HRIS, payroll, and applicant tracking systems.
- Build reports and dashboards that help leadership make informed people decisions.
- Redesign manual processes for efficiency, accuracy, and a better employee experience.
- Own onboarding and offboarding workflows from offer letter through final paycheck.
Talent Acquisition Support
- Partner with hiring managers on job descriptions and interview plans.
- Support recruiting coordination, candidate experience, and offer creation.
- Watch for recruiting scams impersonating our company, and help protect job seekers.
What You Bring
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 6+ years of progressive HR experience, with at least 3 years as a generalist or HR business partner.
- Working knowledge of FMLA, ADA, FLSA, COBRA, ERISA, HIPAA, and Title VII.
- Hands on experience with at least one HRIS and one payroll platform.
- Sound judgment, discretion, and a deep respect for confidentiality.
Preferred Qualifications
- SHRM CP, SHRM SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification.
- Experience supporting employees in multiple states and at least one country outside the U.S.
- Familiarity with ESOPs, stock appreciation rights, or other equity programs.
- Conversational Spanish (¡un gran plus!)
- Advanced Excel skills, including lookups, pivot tables, and a healthy fear of merged cells.
